Summary/Abstract: The paper aims at approaching one of the several controversial issues impacting formal education, not only at the secondary level, but throughout the entire schooling: hidden curriculum, with a special focus on the Romanian learning environment. Responding to an anthropological learning need, hidden curriculum is often woven within the educational process, producing both positive and negative effects, according to the educators’ intentions and learners’ awareness. Its benefits and drawbacks are being analyzed, with reference to Counselling, development and orientation classes, but also on the level of the organizational ethos and, in the long run, for the development of the learner’s personality.
