Summary/Abstract: The aim of the research was to check whether spirituality and existential attitudes are related to the style of managing people adopted by managers. In the study the following methods were used: the WERK People Management Style Inventory, the KPŻ Life Attitudes Questionnaire, the KSD Spiritual Sphere Questionnaire and the SSP Work Satisfaction Scale. Fifty-three adults were included in the study, employed on the basis of an employment contract or a managerial contract, in senior and middle management positions, mainly in joint-stock companies and limited liability companies operating in Poland. Research has shown that managers who prefer the “Captain’s style” display Negative Spirituality, that is, an attitude distanced from the expressive manifestations of spirituality. The point of reference for this group of managers is, above all, self-confidence and one’s ability to use the potential of the managed people. They have crystallized goals in life and strive to achieve them. At the same time, these managers do not feel the Existential Void. It is also confirmed that regardless of the preferred management style, managers show a significantly higher than average – compared to the general population in Poland – Balance of Life Attitude, which is a measure of general satisfaction with life and self-acceptance in their lives. The obtained results indicate the existence of relationships between spirituality and existential attitudes and styles of managing people. This can be an incentive to include this perspective in Assessment and Development Centers, as well as part of project management.
