Summary/Abstract: The aim of the following article is to analyze the excerpted lexical items regarding the names of units of measure in the hunting dialect. The research includes 229 lexical items enabling the linguistic interpretation areas such as: the number of animals, their age and quality. The wealth of sociolinguistic names of units of measure proves that the hunting dialect contains the tools for hunters for naming professional phenomena connected with classification of animals, their breeding and culling, interpreting reality in a more detailed way than it is possible by the lexis of general Polish (e.g. not only defining the specific names but names defining their age, the name of the male of the species but also its quality in the environment). The analysis of the selected sociolinguistic names of units of measurement indicates that the knowledge of the hunters sociolect makes it possible for hunters to express their thoughts effectively and precisely, which is also the crucial element of their identity.
