Summary/Abstract: The bonds of solidarity connect not only people with each other, but also animals. An example of this is Orwell’s Animal Farm, which is assigned as a schoolbook, rooted in the tradition of Aesop’s fable. However, this is not only a phenomenon charac- teristic for literary fantasy, as it is confirmed in the research of naturalists and sociologists (animal as Other). The article provides an overview of works that illustrate the attitude of solidarity in the animal world and animals with people, both fantastic and realistic, for children and adults, which are either on school reading lists or could be included there. Not only foreign-language writers, such as the Brothers Grimm, Kipling, Lagerlȍf, Lofting, Chukovsky, Bonsels, Adams, Atkinson, but also Polish ones, such as Dygasiński, Reymont, Brzechwa, Żukrowski. This also applies to memoir prose about childhood, whose didactic sense is no less valuable.
