Summary/Abstract: Extracurricular education in the Republic of Moldova was established during the Soviet period, retaining some influences even after the declaration of independence. Following the democratization of the political system and the educational system, respectively, the need to reconfigure the non-formal / extracurricular education sub-system was imposed, by adopting a relevant normative framework. Basically, the process was launched in 2001 with the adoption of the Education Code, being continued in 2010/2011. At the same time, due to the division of ministries by different parties, there was a separation of institutions in the field of extracurricular education. The merging of ministries in 2014 led to the development of a complex and relevant management regulation of the extracurricular education system, which, however, did not enter into force.
