Summary/Abstract: The calculation of traffic noise levels at the immission site can be performed using several different models. Each model has its own characteristics that determine the noise level, both in the approach itself and in taking into account a number of parameters that affect noise generation. All models available in the literature are based on the establishment of analytical relationships between traffic noise levels and selected traffic flow parameters, such as the flow of light and heavy vehicles. By applying regression analysis, the analytical relationship between the selected parameters and the noise level is determined. Experts dealing with urban traffic planning often have to rely on models to predict traffic noise. A critical review of various traffic noise studies, their application methodologies, as well as certain models for traffic noise prediction cited in the literature, reveals certain specifics for each of the analyzed models. This article presents a critical review of some of the models used to predict traffic noise levels.
