Summary/Abstract: As a part of a larger theme on the issue of the First World War, within the interwar poetry, this article explores Camil Petrescu’s vision of the idea of internal and external war, respectively, by means of through analysis of the elements that leads to the shaping of its magnitude. This article focuses on creating a panoramic view, being of great use for readers who show interest in the study of literature from the interwar period. The poems included in the volume entitled The Cycle of Death draw attention through their lexical variety, as all semantic fields identified focus on the degradation of the human being a clear consequence of the impossibility of love fulfillment. Camil Petrescu was in search for particular grain of the mystery that could reunite his hero’s soul and thought, for which he signified, in fact, the true value of the human being. Therefore, the resulting work represents a true masterpiece that showcases the degree of realism and its very own philosophical system.
