THE PRODUCT OWNER ROLE WITHIN CONTEMPORARY IT PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT TEAMS WHICH WORK WITH “AGILE” PRINCIPLES

Summary/Abstract: In the present paper, we try to evaluate the role of the Product Owner within a team who develops an IT product after testing specific hypotheses related to its availability to other team members when new requirements from the client arise or when relevant expertise is needed, its capacity at the time of setting priorities in the cycle of development, by the interaction it has with team members and related to the way in which confirm completion of work or certain tasks. The assumed objectives were achieved through the application of a questionnaire. 80 people were questioned, people who occupy various positions in the IT field, people working following "Agile" principles such as Proxy Product Owner, Scrum Master, Technical Business Analyst, Tech Lead, Developer, WebOps, Front End, QE Lead, Manual Tester and Automation Tester. Empirical analysis confirms that the Product Owner sets all development priorities of an IT product and approves that the product has been completed according to the requirements of the client. These results are important and confirm that, beyond the limits given by limited availability of the Product Owner and imperfect interaction with team members, reference to "Agile" principles helps it deliver quality to customers.
