Summary/Abstract: Childhood and adolescence are critical points where the basic emotional habits that will later govern their lives are formed. Emotional intelligence implies a basic skill for living, such as how to control emotional impulses, perceive the deepest feelings of others and how to harmonize mutual relationships. As Aristotle says: „Be angry with the right person, and to the right degree, and at the right time, and for the right purpose, and in the right way.” The aim of this work is to show how schools should employ teachers who will create programs that would educate students in their entirety, combining reason and heart in classrooms. First of all, teachers, i.e. the teaching staff who work with children, should know their own emotions well and, in this regard, a subject dealing with emotions should be included in the curriculum. Only such qualified teachers can work with children and form some basic effective elements, which would include: emotional skills, cognitive skills and behavioral skills. The conclusion brings the characteristics of the teacher of the 21st century, and the programs that would be used by teachers, show the improvement of emotional competence, are aimed at building specific skills in the field of emotions, cognition, and social, behavioral and moral development. Therefore, these programs for the positive development of children in this category seek to develop the ability to manage emotional reactions or self-management strategies, to mitigate one's own unpleasant experiences and to tolerate frustration.
