THERAPEUTIC MAGICAL RITUALS. THE DISENCHANTMENT

Summary/Abstract: For the region of Oltenia, the ethnological approaches of the medical act are rather scarce. Oltenia has not yet been studied from the perspective of understanding and analysing the traditional therapeutic system, starting from the efficiency of the methods and ending with the curing that implies the healing of the soul along with the body. Despite some praiseworthy efforts, on addressing the traditional therapeutic complex from Oltenia, it is not yet known too much about the particularities of the traditional medicine and the cultural forms based on magic (charms, spells, disenchantments), the symbolism and the syncretism of the traditional medicine, the importance given to the healing of the different conditions, the mentality representations on health and disease etc. With the aid of the consulted bibliographic materials, along with that resulted from the field research, it is attempted the widening of the etnoiatric knowledge area, focusing on the beliefs related to the magical medicine, the therapeutic value of the disenchantments (their form and the traditional modalities of manifestation) and the charming away.
