Summary/Abstract: First light. Beneath the walls of Thebes: the sentries are warming their hands at a fire that flicker in their midst. Sound of dogs howling and snarling as they squabble over the corpse of Telamon. FIRST SENTRY: The rosy-fingered dawn hath barely touched the sky. I doubt that any man, as night gives way to day, would dare to steal abroad and bury Telamon.Come, crouch and warm your hands. For we’re not dogs more eager to obey than save their skin.
