Bibliophilia as an academic discipline – between theory and practice

Summary/Abstract: Bibliophilia, as a book studies discipline, is not a widely taught subject in higher education. Oriented towards the humanitarian field, it has been successfully applied in specialized courses for librarians, archivists, and information specialists from the entire spectrum devoted to memory institutions.Using data from an anonymized survey among students, the aim of this paper is to examine our accumulated experience and to systematize our current observations in teaching Bibliophilia at the University of Library Studies and Information Technologies (ULSIT). As a concurrent subject in this paper, we emphasize on the contributing role in the practical training of library and information specialists.
