Public library “Radoje Domanoviс” in Leskovac – then and now

Summary/Abstract: The paper gives an overview of the development of librarianship in Leskovac and the history of the oldest cultural institution in this city, the Public Library “Radoje Domanović”. Listed are literary-educational programs, artistic activities and events for children, youth and adults that the library realizes in its work. The importance of work on the digitization of old and rare materials and church books was also emphasized, as well as the application of modern technology in the library and information activities of the Leskovac Library through the Makerspace library caravan of ideas. One of the most important segments of the library was pointed out – publishing and preservation of native heritage. The paper also points out the importance of presenting realized events through digital platforms and social networks as a type of development of love for books and reading.
