Summary/Abstract: The lifestyle of young female students is constantly adapting to technological evolution. Advanced technologies provide access to various information that can have a positive or negative impact on lifestyle habits and, therefore, on the health of a young woman. Eating disorders include unhealthy eating habits and/or eating behaviors and weight maintenance. According to the classification, an eating disorder is based on visible consequences, such as extreme thinness or obesity. A particular moment in eating disorders is based on today's "standard of beauty" with excessive thinness. Unsatisfied with their appearance, women make great efforts to achieve their ideal through intense exercise and/or diet. The aim is to determine whether there is a significant correlation of body composition levels with eating disorders: body mass index (BMI) is expected to be directly related to eating disorders. Methodology: Epidemiological observational analytical research included a representative sample of 408 healthy female students aged 19 to 22 years. For testing, we used a socio-demographic questionnaire, body mass index (BMI) with the level of visceral fat, percentage of muscle mass and percentage of fat tissue, and the standardized test EAT-26 to assess the risk of eating disorders. Result: The sample consists of female students with an average age of 20.5 years and anormal BMI value of 22.1+/- 3.2. The final score of the EAT-26 test showed that 16.7% of girls are at risk of eating disorders. Using a graded statistical method, we determine that body composition parameters are not a reliable indicator of the existence of eating disorders and that EAT-26 does not have a reliable and acceptable value as an independent test to assess risk factors through different attitudes and deviant eating behaviors. Therefore, for detection, monitoring and preventive action, it is necessary to carry out regular systematic examinations among the student population.
