Summary/Abstract: The Catholic Church has always cared for and continues to cherish the memory of the past. For centuries, the Catholic clergy tried to spread Polish culture related to faith in God and the Church. A beautiful page in this field was written by Fr. Władysław Skierkowski (1886-1941), priest of the Płock diocese, builder of the parish church in Płock-Imielnica, and, above all, a researcher and popularizer of Kurpie culture, songs and historiographer of marriage and family life. The aim of the article is to discuss the existing forms of preserving the memory of this priest and martyr, murdered in the German Nazi camp of Soldau. The text contains information about all plaques and inscriptions devoted to this priest-ethnographer, and the history of the birth of the idea and circumstances of erecting a monument to this priest in Bogurzyn in 2021, where he was baptized in the parish church and grew up until his studies at the Płock seminary.
