Summary/Abstract: The article gives the political portrait of Noe Zhordania (1868-1953), a promi-nent Georgian political figure, leader of Georgian Social Democrats, and Chairman of the First Republic of Georgia (1918-1921). The critical examination of scien-tific literature, documentary materials, and memoirs (N. Zhordania, V. Nozadze, A. Asatiani, G. Gvazava, and Sh. Odisharia) makes it clear that N. Zhordania and Georgian Social Democrats until the Bolshevik coup in October of 1917 in Russia and dissolution of the All-Russian Constituent Assembly by the Bolsheviks, fought ruthlessly against the idea of the restoration of the national and state independence of Georgia. Despite the fact that in 1918, N. Zhordania and Georgian Social Demo-crats split from Bolshevik Russia to support the independence of Georgia, N. Zhor-dania remained loyal to the Bolshevik wing of the Russian Social Democrats to the end. This is evidenced by a number of political decisions made by him in his exile.
