Summary/Abstract: The literary imagination sketches an exotic projection of the territory between the Proute and the Dniestr rivers – Bessarabia. This projection to which it also contributes the fact that it is situated between two particularly civilizations – german-latins in the west and slavic-byzantine in the east. The bessarabian man is a tragic man by his assumption of his estranged destiny under the mark of historical terror. C.Stere, both as novelist and political man channeled his entire energy into the attempt to reform the social and political structures and the fulfilment of the social credo– unification of Bessarabia with the old Moldova – a mission which he depicts in details in his novel Close to revolution.
