PRE-EMINENCE AND PROMINENCE –ATTRIBUTES OF EMINESCU'S ARTISTIC PROSE

Summary/Abstract: Being for more than 130 years at the center of the national aesthetic canon, Eminescu’s versatile creation has been a difficult stepping stone for researchers in the modern era, before which not everyone has kept their lucidity and discernment. A projection of his inner biography, Eminescu’s work – both in verse and prose – , exuberant with its winged lyricism, offers a literary material with an obvious autobiographical charge, which reflects the authentic image of the writer's personality. Based on these considerations, we propose that, in this article, we recall some of the biographical and bibliographical data of the literary beginnings of Mihai Eminescu, especially in his capacity as author of some creations through which he paved the way for unknown prosaic species, up to him, in Romanian literature. Being a prose of ideas and having, as a central point, the drama of the superior man, Eminescu’s prose represents the most adequate way to verify and deeply understand the Eminescu ego. Doubling and sometimes anticipating the issue of his lyric poetry, Eminescu’s prosaic creation opens up unknown horizons in Romanian prose, while situating itself, through the spiritual debate, on the highest level of European romantic literature.
