Summary/Abstract: The article analyses the significance of political rights of citizens in a democratic society and in a legal system. Its first part deals with basic characteristics of political rights. After that, the attention is paid to the relation between political and human rights. A comprehensive overview of types of political rights is provided in the following part of the article, while in the last one the further fragmentation of the topic is conducted by elaboration of the relation between electoral and political rights.
