Summary/Abstract: Medical Humanities are a topic of interest for Romanian medical students today. The role of the ESP teacher has been constantly challenged in the last two decades or more, once issues such as globalization and the development of technology have started to influence every field of our activities. Likewise, the pandemic has also come with its challenges that also needed to be taken into consideration as the teaching activity has been carried out, since then, mainly in the online medium. This paper is going to address some of the changes that have been implemented in the ESP classes at the “Grigore T. Popa” University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Iasi, Romania, in the attempt to respond to the present-day needs of our students who, along with their linguistic training, have to develop interdisciplinary skills that are so much needed in their future profession. Empathy, communication skills, good observation skills can be developed by means of activities that are part of the vast domain of the medical humanities. Likewise, the paper is going to discuss some of the problems we are facing since we have started to work online, mainly focusing on the idea of keeping students’ interest in the online classes that may no longer have the same impact as the face to face interaction.
