Summary/Abstract: The subject of this paper is topical, it is unanimously acknowledged today the interrelation between energy, the economy and the environment, as well as the important role of the energy market on a country's economic future. The purpose of the paper is to understand the role and importance of the functioning of the E-SER market (energy produced from renewable energy sources) within the electricity market, as well as its impact on the Romanian economy and society. The benefits of using renewable energy are also highlighted by the European Commission, which shows that increasing their share of energy in the EU together with energy efficiency significantly reduces greenhouse gas emissions and leads to improved air quality. The methods used in the analysis are: synthesis, method of comparison, deduction and induction, and the data used were taken from the statistics of the European Commission (Eurostat) and national statistics. The obtained results reveal the usefulness of the analysis of the evolution of the energy market, in order to identify its general characteristics, related to the existence of an optimal structure, in the context of the dynamics of the companies on this market and their specific externalities.
