Summary/Abstract: The purpose of the article is to examine how Inca Garcilaso de la Vega constructs his discursive ethos in The Royal Commentaries of the Incas and what were the implicit intentions of this project. With the approach of Critical Discourse Analysis, the research conducts a study of the following deictic elements: Other, I, You, inclusive We. The results explain how the historiographical work can be understood, on account of the author’s rhetoric, rather as a subtle invitation to a collective search for justice and harmony between the Andean and Occidental cultures.
