Summary/Abstract: One of the first stages of t mythology was polytheism. Polytheism presupposes the existence of several deities. Orpheus is considered „the father of the Panhellenic faith in the continuation of the existence of the soul after the physical death of man, the great theologian, being considered both the founder of sacred and profane sciences, owing to him religion and the arts’’1. The Orphism, one of the most important religious currents of the 6th century BC marked the Hellenic culture by its entire relation to life and death and by acquiring a new vision of existential problems. Orpheus is considered not only the founder of Orphic communities, but also of the Dionysian initiation ceremonies. In Orphism, the status of the god Dionysus was re-signified to illustrate the Orphic conception of the duality of the human being.
