Summary/Abstract: A silver coin of average value, grossus argenteus triplex was at the basis of a Polish-Prussian issuing called the trojaki or Dreigröscher. Starting with the late sixteenth century, the currency was adopted as a model by other issuers under the name hármas garas, krucierz, III grossetti, artiluk; the internal documents of the Romanian countries contained the mentions (Moldavia) and costanda (Wallachia). For the Kingdom of Poland this was the first currency, whose striking was correlative to the reforming spirit of the time; it opened the way to the modernization of the monetary system of the Crown and, at the same time, it launched the completion of the Polish-Prussian monetary union. In the historical Romanian countries, this currency appeared in many treasures. In Moldavia, it entered under exceptional military and political conditions and it soon became the most stable and the most accessible value, but it disappeared from circulation in less clearer circumstances. Our intention in this article is to follow – to the extent possible and in a parallel and synchronic way – the situation on the continent (in the geographical sense), in relative agreement with the data provided by the “monetary spaces” close to Moldavia, the Ottoman, Polish, Lithuanian, Hungarian spaces, which we compared to those recorded in the voivodate.
