The Genesis and the Strategies of Hostile Takeovers

Summary/Abstract: In the article basic definitions are explained and presented, the analysis of the term “hostile takeover” was undertook. There is shown the difference between friendly and hostile takeovers and the stages of an overtake, also the strategies of hostile takeovers are described. The origin of this process, the time in history when it was mostly common, and the countries in which the number of hostile takeovers is the highest / lowest are indicated. The hostile takeover is more and more common that is why the knowledge of this phenomenon is important for the right preparation to face this process.
