Summary/Abstract: The study analyses the Austro - Hungarian compromise (1867). The author presents the situation of Hungary and of Bohemia in the empire and he compares them. He examines first of all national characteristics of the two parts of the empire, the situation of the minorities and the political, strategical conditions in Hungary and in Bohemia. He tries to answer the question: how to explain that the compromises didn't occur between Bohemia and Vienna.
