Summary/Abstract: The paper addresses the problem of intellectual capital (IC) in media companies. First, se- lected models of intellectual capital management and IC components in industries other than media are shown. Then, the paper discusses the key areas of IC in media companies and the potential role of IC in these areas, as well as indicators that may characterize it. It also presents some characteristics of media companies: their distinct features that affect the nature of IC in the media sector. Overall, the paper is an introduction to the subject of intellectual capital manage- ment in media.
