A Pedagogics of (Spatial) Memory

Summary/Abstract: Memorial sites pedagogy describes historical-political education in museums in former Nazi concentration camps. It combines together gaining and deepening historical knowledge on the second world war with self-development and shaping socially desirable aitudes, by using methods of non-formal education. The subjects of memorial sites pedagogy are aimed to result in, among others, learning tolerance and in anti-discrimination acts. It offers an answer to the needs of European societies in the case of strengthening democratic aitudes.
