Attitudes of Faculty of Health Sciences Students on The Registration and Protection of Personal Health Data

Summary/Abstract: Personal health data, which is guaranteed by the Constitution in 2010, has an important place among personal data. In this study, it was aimed to determine the attitudes of the students about the protection of personal health data, and to analyze whether there is a difference in terms of demographic variables. The population of this study is 2442 students in the departments of nursing, midwifery, child development, physiotherapy and rehabilitation at the Faculty of Health Sciences. It was determined that the sample number should be 332 people, 641 volunteer students were reached in the study, and the data were collected by face-to-face survey technique. The data of the research were analyzed using the SPSS 20.0 package program. Data were analyzed with independent sample t-test and one-way ANOVA test. The attitudes of the students participating in the study towards the recording and protection of personal health data were positive (X̄3.59). As a result, the participants are aware of the protection of personal health data, but not at a sufficient level. It is necessary to increase the awareness of health personnel and students receiving health education about the recording and protection of personal health data before they start their professional life or profession.
