Summary/Abstract: The article describes our ancestors’ attitude towards killing – beginning with effectual regulations in ancient Rome, ending with modern codes. This type of regulations appearing in our country is also discussed. The emphasis is put on privileged type of killing which was a duel, considered by our ancestors as a specific evidence within trial in ordeal.
