Summary/Abstract: The creation diver myth of the world, which tells that someone (scuba bird, white bird, goldeneye bird, swallow, swan, turtle, crab, shrimp, wild boar, devil, etc.) dives into the water and brings a handful of earth, is one of the oldest cosmogony myths. There are 24 examples in the Baltic-Slavic region and 12 in the Finno-Ugric lands. This myth, which is assumed to have occurred 12 thousand years ago, has also been found in South Asia and North America. If the sources of mythology and folklore are researched as a whole together with archeology, anthropology and even genetics, it is possible to follow the migration routes of ancient people. In our work, we will consider for the first time in Turkey Ye. Yu. Berezkin’s project “Thematic classification and distribution of folklore and mythological motifs by areas”. Thanks to the catalog, it is possible to visually determine the distribution of folklore and mythological motifs according to regions in the world. This method, which can be used in mythology and folklore, can be called the "archaeological method". Ye. Yu. Beryozkin calls the study of products containing mythological and folkloric elements "folklore archeology". In the study, based on the catalog of Beryozkin, together with foreign scientific sources, an evaluation is made about the myths with "diver" motifs and examples are shown on the map. The importance of the comparative-historical method is also emphasized, as myths about the creation of the world, including the subject of "diver", are encountered in various peoples and cultures.
