Summary/Abstract: Migration is one of the processes taking place in the history of mankind, which determines very important social outcomes and changes. The purpose of the presented study is to study the socioeconomic, demographic aspects of migration processes in Azerbaijan and develop evidence-based proposals and recommendations for improving state policy in this area, taking into account their impact on the labor market and employment. The study found that one of the main statistically significant factors affecting labor migration towards Baku according to the linear regression model is the distance to Baku (41.7%), capital investments (7%) and industrial production (4.5%). %). The average monthly nominal wages of employees also have a statistically significant impact, and in terms of the magnitude of the effect it is of great practical importance (27%). The next conclusion of the study is that when considering the interaction of migration to Baku with socio-economic indicators, the highest correlation is with distance to Baku. Thus, the correlation coefficient between distance and migration is -0.8. Another point that emerged during the study is that other factors that have a significant correlation with labor migration are retail trade (-0.4), nominal incomes of the population (-0.4) and capital investment (-0. 3). One of the tools available to ensure future development is the proper use of the potential of labor migration. From this point of view, strengthening the process of development of the non-oil sector and the private sector in the regions of Azerbaijan is of particular importance.
