RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN FINANCIAL MARKETS DEVELOPMENT AND ECONOMIC GROWTH IN AZERBAIJAN

Summary/Abstract: The study of the relationship between financial markets and economic growth has been the focus of economists in the past. There is a growing interest in how financial market development affects economic activities, especially in developing countries. Financial markets are considered developed if there is an improvement in the size, performance, efficiency and stability of the financial system. Thus, there is a need to investigate possible improvements in financial market functions and their potential impact on economic activities, and ultimately on investments that stimulate economic growth. For this reason, the article analyzed the characteristics of financial markets, their components and development trends, and their impact on economic growth. In addition to studying the international experience, the impact on economic growth was evaluated by analyzing the current situation in the financial markets of Azerbaijan. Regression analysis was chosen as the evaluation method. So, as a result of the applied method, it can be noted that there is a positive linear relationship between the development of financial markets and economic growth. This suggests that the development of financial markets is one of the main drivers of economic policy. At the end of the study, recommendations and suggestions were presented based on the results obtained from the literature analysis and the applied model. These suggestions and recommendations can be used in the policy measures that will be applied in this direction in the future.
