Summary/Abstract: In the present approach, the author refers to the emergence and stages of evolution of popular theater representations as ethno social landmarks of manifesting the traditional culture, with the reflection of the mutations that occurred along the way. Reflecting on the traditional rural culture, we observe that it based on a ritualistic social behavior, dictates by the observance of unwritten conventions, was perpetuated and respected by the community. The identification and documentation of customary precepts motivates the circulation of several opinions regarding the genesis and evolution of the popular theater itself, to which the author will refer within the study. It is true that the performance of popular customs in antiquity with the use of ritual disguise or disguise, on the one hand, was due to the need for mask-wearers to fulfill the spiritual connection with the divine supernatural forces, with the ancestors and ancestors of the nation, with the totemic beings of the village glass. , and on the other hand, followed the apotropaic function of magical protection against the evil actions of the evil spirits, which, according to the traditional mentality, suppress and perpetuate the human existence. During the ancient period, the performances of the theatrical performances marked by the customary importance of the mask, through which it believed that the transcendence from the profane chronotope to the sacred one, considered recurrent and recoverable, takes place. With the passing of years, there are essential changes in the collective mind of the people. As a consequence, the magical transfiguration evolves into the playful one, then into the dramatic one, attested in the folkloric theater representations where both the ceremonial act and the spectacular / entertainment aspect, the family customs and calendar, resulting in the desalination of the ritual mask.
