Summary/Abstract: The concept of baqā means continuity for qadīm and hādith beings. Ash‘arite mutakallimūn disagreed about the nature of bāqī. Abū al-Hasan al-Ash‘arī accepted that baqā is an attribute different (zāit) from the existence of bāqī. Al- Isfarāyīnī agrees with al-Ash‘arī in proving baqā as an attribute. On the other hand, al-Bāqillānī thought like al-Ash‘arī at the beginning of his life and accepted baqā as a different (zāit) attribute. He later abandoned this view, and for the first time in Ash‘arite kalām, he argued that baqā breturns to the existence of the bāqī. After al-Bāqillānī, Imām al-Haramayn al-Juwaynī, Fakhr al-Din al-Rāzī, Sayf al-Dīn al-Āmidī, Qādī al-Baydāwī, and al-Jurjānī also saw bāqī as the existence itself. As can be seen, the common opinion of Ash‘arite kalām is to reject the fact that baqā is a different (zāit) attribute. This study will reveal the views on the nature of baqā based on the works of Ash‘arite mutakallimūn. Afterward, the argument about the proof and rejection of baqā as a different (zāit) attribute will be reconstructed. The discussion started with the three proofs put forward by the Ash‘arites, who proved baqā as a different (zāit) attribute. Subsequently, the four impossible situations that those who reject the baqā as a different (zāit) attribute, which they say will arise in case of proof, have passed. As a result of the discussion put forward with the argum ent-o bject ion-r espon se construct, a choice was made about the stronger side.
