Summary/Abstract: Opera performance has become a sophisticated environment, where direction and scenography are points of attraction for spectators who lack sufficient musical knowledge. We see performers who are increasingly well prepared from a technical point of view, but the simple opera lover also expects a performance to match. The shaping of a character’s image involves intensive study before going on stage, which largely involves physical and emotional aspects. In this sense, a good result stems from body awareness, by building an effective posture and facial expressiveness. Exercises aimed at developing bodily expressiveness provide a foundation on which the performer can build and create the synergy between all the elements involved in the construction of a truthful character.
