Summary/Abstract: The figure of Joseph, married to the Mother of God, is relatively little known in the Orthodox tradition. At the same time, it is very interesting from a liturgical point of view. The hymnography of the day of his remembrance, and especially of the Royal Hours of Christmas Eve, deals in a special way with the question of the doubts he had in connection with the pregnancy of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The liturgical texts also deal with the question of the age of Joseph, who is usually defined as an elder.
