Summary/Abstract: The Friars Minor of the Strict Observance, were brought to Kalisz in the 17th century. In the historic Wrocławskie Przedmieście there is a church located, from the second half of the 17th century, currently serving as the seat of the parish of the Holy Family. In its basement not only monks, but also representatives of all social classes: nobility, bourgeoisie and even the peasantry had found their resting place. Although the order had been dissolved in 1864, and in 1914 the building was destroyed in heavy bombardments, and the coffins demolished, it is still possible to reconstruct the list of people who found their eternal rest in the basement. The sources include the epitaph which preserved in the side altar, the monastery chronicle kept in the Archives of the Franciscan Fathers in Krakow, and others. In the article also the tradition of Christian burials in temples has been discussed and the history of the branch of the Franciscan order in Kalisz presented.
