Summary/Abstract: The presented article is of a historical and legal nature. It analyzes the impact of the legal solutions and the tradition of the Polish civil service on the current model of the civil service. The results of the conducted research lead to the conclusion that despite the considerable passage of time – and despite the fact that while the 1922 Act on the State Civil Service was formally maintained until 1974, the continuity of tradition was interrupted in the period of “People’s Poland” – the classic solutions of the Act from before a century have survived to such extent that there are grounds for talking about the impact of the 1922 Act on the current model of the civil service – a model far from perfect, and even “decapitated”.
