Summary/Abstract: Artificial Intelligence is a valuable tool for a great number of established scientific and pragmatic domains and human theoretical enterprises. What about giving our devices and robots the relevant chance to contribute to the artistic field, like music, painting, poetry? And if we accept AIʼs interferences in these cultural domains what are the major philosophical implications? Enthusiastic programmers, dedicated engineers and some of the art creators struggle to persuade us about the necessity to accept our machines eventually as equal partners into our fascinating endeavour to improve the quality of the artistic processes and products. On the other side of this utopian scenario we meet the sceptical reactions of the technophobes and neo-luddits. The reality of the digital artist is extremely controversial. This is the reason why we try, in this article, to analyse some of the relevant philosophical implications or consequences derived from the supposed acceptance or rejection of the artificial artistic entity.
