Summary/Abstract: ”Treat of argumentation” published by Chaim Perelman and Lucie Olbrechts-Tyteca marks a new approach concerning the argumentation technique within the arts of oratory. After centuries when the theory of knowledge launched by Descartes has limited human's reasoning only to evidence, the art of eloquence had fallen unfairly into a ”dogmatic sleep”, as professor Constantin Sălăvăstru tells us. We needed an important and genius work from belgian researchers in order to bring Rhetoric back to life. Discovering the forgotten papers of Aristotle about the reasoning with probable premises, Perelman defines a general theory of argumentation which represents itself as an addition to the demonstration based on formal reasoning. The New Rhetoric is seen as a pragmatic of free adhesion, choice in which the domain of emotion plays a necessary role.
