Summary/Abstract: This article aims to demonstrate that for the Romanian writers and cultural elite, the heaven of salvation was and is the France and the French language and culture. Today, the great museums of the world compete for the reception of the sculptures of Brâncuși or the paintings of Pallady, the major European concert halls or overseas quiver in the rhythm of the Enescu music, and our literature, especially that of "exile" and published in French, is often confused with the great French literature, since many educated people around the world are taking Panait Istrati, Cioran, Eliade, and especially Ionesco, for some pure-bred French writers.
