Summary/Abstract: The article deals with the somatic aspects of corrections in the context of penitentiary law. During the 20th century, the term „correction“ was often instrumentalized for ideological and propaganda purposes and used as a euphemism for terror and atrocities in prisons. Consequently, the word is no longer used in German legal texts in relation to adult persons, which can lead to some difficulties in translating from Bulgarian into German. This problem can be solved by choosing a domesticating translation strategy.
