Summary/Abstract: The article concerns Karol Irzykowski’s alleged ant-Semitic inclinations, one of the issues revolving around the reception of his literary work of the 1930s that was leveled at him by the journalists of the Polish-Jewish press. Based on the analysis of the elements of the literary form and the language of the articles in question, the author shows the aesthetic strategy of Irzykowski posing as a ‘clerk’ and its limits in relation to social and political phenomena.
