Russification of the Kingdom of Poland and Evangelicals and Their Birth, Marriage and Death Records: 1868. A Contribution to the Description of the Source

Summary/Abstract: The article is of contributory nature – it concerns the birth, marriage and death registers of the Evangelical Church of the Augsburg Confession in the Kingdom of Poland. The issue analyzed is the introduction of a regulation demanding that birth, marriage and death registers be written in Russian. This law would enter into force from the beginning of 1868 (Old Style), in practice, however, in many parishes it was brought into effect with delay. Literature on the subject contains only very few mentions on this issue.
