Summary/Abstract: Marxism is an ideological current which appeared in nineteenth century. Its promoters were Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels. Marxism-Leninism emerged because of the creative influence of Lenin; a notable contribution was that of Stalin. Marxist theorists considered the establishment by revolution of the workers' state, which was to manifest itself as a dictatorship of the proletariat. In order to achieve their objectives, they were interested in a collaboration between the Marxist party and the trade unions. In this relationship the trade unions were subordinated to the Marxist party, realizing only the ideological connection between the Marxist political leaders and the proletariat. At the same time, they were to the Marxist party a nursery of political cadres and a social base.
