Summary/Abstract: Recently, English made a remarkable emergence in the Algerian context known for its varied linguistic and cultural bath. The objective of our work is to carry out the analysis of the questionnaires presented to the students of the university Ibn Khaldoun Tiaret relating to English which replaces French in Algeria. Our article focuses on the responsiveness of students to English over the last decade, which has ended up rivaling French by officially settling this year (2022/2023) in Algerian schools from the 3rd year of primary school. . What could be more complex when a new language contacts French in Algeria, which is coupled with the question of identity? A series of questions arise in this regard: what position will English take in the country? What will be its symbolic value? What will become of secular French in the face of a language spoken worldwide? How will English impact the Algerian identity discourse? We state that the answers collected from the students present themselves as a reality on the ground with regard to English wishing to replace French which has its roots since colonization and the establishment of a new language in Algeria. Through a sociolinguistic approach our questions will know answers.
