Functions of craft in the development of the city on the example of Wrocław

Summary/Abstract: At the beginning of the systemic transformation craft fulfilled economic functions, especially took part in the privatization of state enterprises and in the absorption of labor surplus. The political function of craft appeared in the reduction of social tensions caused by high costs of the systemic transformation. At present the most important craft’s function is vocational education. It has great significance for craft’s participation in the development of the city. Moreover craft can serve as an activator of local economy, particularly on the peripheral areas of the city.
