Summary/Abstract: The article discusses the main types of publications: architectural manuals, pattern books and house design catalogues, which are tools in urban planning and management of the listed and new-designed neighbourhoods. Characteristic is the role of historic buildings in the process of developing of the mentioned publications, as they become models for new structures. In Poland, the practice of publishing architectural manuals can be traced back to 2014, although earlier attempts of implementing pattern books had been made. Because of the limited domestic experience, the possible scale of impact of such publications were presented on the example of Louisiana, where they played an important role in the recovery management after the destructions of 2006.
