Summary/Abstract: The notable personality of the second half of the XIX and the first decades of the next century, Gheorghe Dima, the performer, piano player, teacher, conductor and composer born in Brașov, has mastered the whole polyphonic, but also instrumental musical field in Transylvania. His education started in Brașov, later he continued his studies in Klagenfurt, in the Leipzig Conservatory and in Berlin, great personalities of the time, excellent representatives of counterpoint, harmony, aesthetics and European music history showed him the way. In 1880 he was awarded the first prize of the Mozart Foundation of Salzburg.
